The Argo Girls on the Run (GOTR) team has begun training for the annual GOTR Silicon Valley 5K in May. Your 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade girl can try out a free practice session without commitment. Your PTA donations and our Special Assemblies team are bringing the Extreme Science 2.0 show to Argonaut on Monday 3/24 at 1:15 PM and 2:10 PM. Here’s a brief promo.

David Hagerman has been performing his science assemblies for over 20 years. Though based in Branson, MO, David performs all over the country. Extreme Science 2.0 is a forty-five minute program including two performers, music and amazingly visual demonstrations:

  • 700,000 Volt Van de Graaff generator (VDG): (one of the largest you can find), it creates 10-15 inch lightening bolts and more than enough static to raise hair
  • Vortex Cannons: Creates flying rings of fog
  • Floating beach balls: thanks to the Bernoulli effect, we have flight

 

 

SARATOGA EDUCATION FOUNDATION (SEF) - Parent Workshop

As part of SEF's ongoing enrichment programs, Saratoga Education Foundation (SEF) is offering a series of workshops and seminars for parents and students of SUSD. The next one is on Monday, March 17 with Mary Eschen  who will host a workshop that will cover a variety of parenting topics.  Mary is an ACC level coach and a former SUSD parent and has been lecturing and teaching practical parenting skills for over 10 years. Join Mary for a free, one-hour talk at Menlo Church (20455 Herriman Ave) at either 9:00am or 7:00pm at your convenience. Space is limited to, so please register to help us better plan for the event!

Please become a member of the Saratoga Historical Museum! 

The mission of the Saratoga Historical Foundation is to preserve the unique history of Saratoga for the education and enjoyment of the community. Your dues and contributions fund our activities and help keep the Saratoga History Museum open. As a member you'll be informed of the many educational and social activities associated with the museum, such as lectures on California or local histories, new exhibits in the museum, and walking tours. The Educational Programs in the museum directly benefit Saratoga schools. Each year, 450-500 school children visit our Museum. They are 2nd, 3rd and some 5th graders.

The museum is located at 20450 Saratoga-Los Gatos Road, Saratoga. It's free to the general public and opens Friday through Sunday. Please use the link below to become a member or make donations.

ROBOTICS INFO SESSION

Want to learn about the robotics programs our elementary, middle & high school students pursue? Join us for an in-person info session to hear from parent volunteers and students involved in FLL, FTC, VEX, and FRC programs.

When: Wednesday, February 26th, 6:30-7:30 PM

Where: Saratoga Elementary School MPR (entrance by the parking lot), 14592 Oak Street, Saratoga, CA 95070

Format: 10 min discussion on each program, followed by 20 min of Q&A

Join us for the Argo Winter Ball! This is a fun event for the whole family. Children must be accompanied by parents or adults. (Please do not drop off kids.)

  • 5:00–6:30 PM - Enjoy free food, crafts, music, photo booth, Girls on the Run booth, and bid on auction items.
  • 6:30–7:30 PM - Entertainment and dancing!
  • 7:30–8:00 PM - Celebrate the auction winners and keep the fun going!

Thank you to the staff and families who have contributed to the auction! As of now, we will have 14 amazing experiences to bid on, everything from learning to raise chickens in your backyard to a private Makerspace session with the glowforge machine! PTA funds brought brand new Kinderlab Kibo robots to our school’s Makerspace? Ask a second grader about the bowling challenge that they did recently. Or better yet, volunteer in your student’s makerspace class and see them in action for yourself!

Last week, we did a bowling challenge and by the end of the class, we had the entire classroom watching and cheering together! The students’ smiles and enthusiasm speak volumes about the impact of your contribution.

❄️WINTER BALL ACCEPTING DONATIONS πŸ₯³

In addition to the festivities, we will bring back our tradition of hosting a silent auction. This year, the auction will focus on gifts of time and talent from our school community. Party goers will have the chance to bid on things like Principal for a Day or Swim lessons with Chris Co throughout the event. It will be a meaningful and fun way to get to know each other and support our school! To donate, please fill out this form.

We will also accept material items as raffle prizes. Raffles will take place multiple times throughout the party. You must be present the night of Friday, 2/7 to play and win.

SUSD Special Virtual Event - Bridging the Gap: Communicating with your Kids about Sexuality

Wednesday, 1/8, 6:30-8:00pm Workshop Zoom Link

We are excited to welcome back Ivy Chen, MPH, again this year to talk to TK-8 parents/guardians about “Bridging the Gap: Communicating with Your Kids about Sexuality.” Body development, relationships, and establishing boundaries are issues that affect kids of ALL ages. In this popular workshop, parents/guardians will learn how to guide kids of ALL ages through these important topics in today’s modern culture. WE ARE THE WORLD WALKATHON

Ms. Reichmuth's Fourth Grade is raising funds for Heifer International’s Send a Girl to School program. Every $225 raised sends one girl to school, and our goal is to raise $550, enough to send two girls to school which will help families and generations!

  • πŸ“… When: Dec. 17–19, during morning recess
  • πŸ“ Where: Argonaut lower blacktop
  • πŸ‘Ÿ Who: Room 23 students, parent volunteers, and anyone who wants to join!

Each student will walk 15 laps over three days to raise money for this important cause. A suggested donation of $15 (just $1 per lap) or more will help make education accessible for girls around the world. Donations of any size are welcomed and appreciated. Your support will make a lasting impact!

How to Get Involved:

Together, we can give girls the opportunity to go to school and change their lives. Let’s make a difference, one lap at a time! Thank you for your support!
