🚧 MEMBERSHIP TOOLKIT UPDATE 🚧

Membership Toolkit (MTK) did an “update” that may have swapped contact information between parents (eg, Parent 1 became Parent 2, and vice versa).  Please log into the Argonaut PTA website and confirm the contact information for the accounts so any volunteer signups reflect the correct parent information.  The update did not impact any registrations, donations, or purchases.  We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for working with us! We’re still learning too!

🍽️  Inaugural ARGO DINES OUT 🆕

On Monday 10/7, the students have no school 😱 so give everyone a break 😌 and join the Argo PTA at Panda Express at El Paseo to eat, connect, and give back to the PTA! 20% of the proceeds will go directly to Argo PTA. 🎶 MUSICAL REGISTRATION

The official registration deadline passed, but we will take latecomers because Alice is a big production and needs your talent. Take advantage of this opportunity to gain presentation skills all while having fun and making lasting memories!

 

1st AND 2nd Grade: Registration is open to any 1st and 2nd graders who have a sibling also participating in the production (sibling required). Register at https://www.wvyt.org/argonaut.

🪔 DIWALI VIDEO

As part of the Diwali Assembly this year, we will showcase a video compilation of Argo students explaining what Diwali means to them. If you would like your student(s) to be part of this presentation, have them dress in their festive best or get together with a group of Argo friends, and record a video of them explaining what Diwali means to them (in 5 words or less or they can simply wish 'Happy Diwali, Argonaut'). Upload the video to the Argo PTA Diwali Album by 10/11/24. If you have any questions, email diwali@argonautpta.org

Redwood Middle School Movie Night 🎬 🍿

Join RMS PTA's Fall Movie Night 2024 on Friday, 10/4, from 6-9pm at Redwood Middle School's Lower Black Top!  We’re screening Tim Burton's iconic Beetlejuice—a spooky-fun classic perfect for the season! Bring your chairs or mats for an outdoor movie under the stars.  Come dressed in your quirkiest, coziest, or spookiest outfits for a night of games, boba, food trucks, and fun!

Saratoga Education Foundation (SEF) 5K Fun Run

Business Sponsorship and Volunteer Opportunities for SEF 5K Fun Run: Last year, over 700 participants showed up at the SEF 5K Fun Run to support SEF and SUSD schools.  If you own a business, this is a great way to promote your services or products! All sponsors are listed on our T-shirts and event banner. For more details on the sponsorship packages, please click here!  

Volunteers: It takes a village to make this event a success and we are asking for community involvement.  If you would like to help, please check out the volunteer opportunities (there are separate signup links for adult signup and student signup).

Founded in 1974, SMB has been a vehicle to help realize our music directors’ visions to grow the music programs offered in SUSD schools and Saratoga High School into the world-renowned music program it is today! 

Join us at SMB’s Golden Jubilee Fundraiser celebration to honor our history, our mentors/teachers/team who have helped make SMB what it is today, and to help ensure the continued success of our future generations of musicians and achievements.

Check out the updated Argonaut PTA website! We’re making the PTA website your one-stop shop for all registrations, volunteer opportunities, classroom connections, and more!  Construction and updates are ongoing.  Please report any issues to info@argonautpta.org, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation through this update!  Keep reading to find out more.

REGISTER AND JOIN PTA

Head to the Argonaut PTA website to register for a free account so you can volunteer, shop, and register for events.   While you are there, become a PTA member ($15).  Becoming a PTA member allows you to vote on PTA matters such as ice cream flavors for the Ice Cream Social, programs and events sponsored by the PTA, and much more.

JUST DO IT DONATION

Argo PTA asks all families to Just Do It and make a tax-deductible donation of $195 per student to fund the programs and events that enrich the lives of students, staff, and families in our community. See if your company matches and double or triple your donation!

📣 CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!

The Argo PTA is a 100% volunteer-run organization.  Head to the Argonaut PTA website to volunteer in your student’s classroom and for programs and events.  All volunteers must be SUSD cleared.  The easiest way to start is to do your fingerprinting for free at BTSN and attend one of the TB Risk Assessments hosted by SUSD.  Questions? 🗳️VOTE ON FLAVORS FOR THE ICE CREAM SOCIAL 🍦

PTA Members, it’s time to exercise your right to vote! You get to decide the menu for our Ice Cream Social on Friday, 9/13. Vote on flavors by Wednesday, 9/04. Want to vote? Becoming a PTA member ($15) is affordable, fast, and now delicious!

👕 SPIRIT GEAR ON SALE

The Argo Spirit Wear Store is open! If you placed your order by Monday, 8/26, you will be notified to pick up your order on Thursday, 8/29 at Back to School Night (subject to stock availability on a first-come, first-served basis). Orders placed by Sunday, 9/01 will be distributed to classrooms on Monday, 9/23.

📚BIRTHDAY BOOK CLUB

Celebrate your student’s birthday AND help stock our school library with new books. It’s a WIN-WIN! Visit the Birthday Book Club website for the book wishlist and participation form.

🧮 MATH OLYMPIAD REGISTRATION OPEN

4th and 5th Grade Families - Argo Math Olympiad Registration is now OPEN! Visit the Math Olympiad webpage to find details and to register. Registration closes 9/06. Further information will be sent to registered families. Expect a Google Meet call to go over the program details during the week of 9/09.

🤖 ROBOTICS REBOOT

We are reimagining the Argo Robotics program and need your feedback. Put your name under Robotics in the Volunteer Interest form by Sunday 9/01, and we will be in touch.

📱 WHATSAPP ARGO FAMILIES! 💬

Want to connect with other families in your students' grade and class? Head to the Argo Families WhatsApp Community.  This allows the PTA to easily send announcements and reminders to the Argo community. Group names are visible to the entire community, but members and conversations in each group remain private to the group’s members.  The Argo PTA does NOT monitor conversations in the Argo Families WhatsApp Community. (Our FOMO is not that intense.)

🧠 DID YOU KNOW…

School-wide assemblies are held every Friday at 8:45 AM in the MPR. After drop-off, parents are invited to attend and see which students earned 🐻 Bear Paws 🐾 (sponsored by the PTA) and which class walks away with the coveted Golden Apple 🍎.  Maybe you’ll meet some PTA Board Members! 👋🏻

Saratoga Education Foundation – SEF

WHAT IS SEF? 

It’s all of us! Saratoga Education Foundation (SEF) is district families that work together to provide our children with enrichments that make their education more valuable and competitive. This year SEF is funding the following programs for all students at Argonaut Elementary, Foothill Elementary, Saratoga Elementary, and Redwood Middle School:

  • General music for TK-5
  • Science labs for 4th and 5th
  • Makerspace TK-5
  • Redwood STEM classes
  • Redwood Seminars
